Otter’s free Basic plan (300 minutes a month) is genuinely useful for very light, occasional use. TypeMyworDz’s 30-minute trial is smaller but one-time, and the paid tier is where the real gap opens up.
Where Otter is the better fit
If you live in back-to-back video meetings and want live, real-time captions inside the call itself, Otter’s meeting integrations (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams) are more mature than anything TypeMyworDz offers today. TypeMyworDz is built for recordings and uploads — interviews, lectures, fieldwork, dictation — rather than joining a live call.
Where TypeMyworDz is the better fit
- You transcribe more than a couple of hours a month. The per-hour cost gap only grows as usage grows.
